Welcome to the South Powys LETS Web site

South Powys LETS is your Local Exchange and Trading System. LETS is a local multi-choice bartering system. It enables local people to receive all kinds of goods and services from one another, without the need to spend money.

When you join you become a member of a non-profit making club. Members are able to get around the problem of traditional barter, which is that the offers and wants of two people wishing to trade do not always match, through a Members Directory of Goods and Services. People make contact, earn credits with one member of the club, and spend these with another.

No interest is charged to those "in debt" or paid to those "in credit". South Powys LETS undertake to record all transactions between members in a currency called Beacons, and to publish regular accounts accessible to all members. If you'd like to speak to someone about SPLETS, a good place to do so is at Brecon Farmer's Market - second Saturday of each month except August, 09:30 till 14:00, or Llandrindod Farmer's Market - last Thursday of each month 09:00 till 13:00.
